Physicochemical Characteristics and Heavy Metals Assessment in Water and Sediments of Obodo Oilfield in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria

This study investigated the physicochemical characteristics and heavy metals levels in water sediments of Obodo Oilfield Warri South Local Government Area Delta State using standard laboratory-approved APHA ASTM methods. Results indicated traces present sediments. Temperature TDS samples were within DPR established limits while TSS, Chemical Oxygen Demand, Salinity Biochemical Demand higher than control well above limits. The soil all still permissible limits, except for Cadmium which was limit. results showed that environment may have been considerably polluted degraded by operations oil gas production region. recommends activities companies be checked to ensure they are operating environmental regulations country necessary bodies should proactive checkmating illegal bunkering as become major source spills
